MY LAST PAGE

I saw someone asked ChatGPT, "If you had to write a book about me what would be on the last page?" So, I decided to do the same thing😊

In the end, Rozie realised that her life had never really been measured by the big moments.

It was measured in smaller things: the students whose names she remembered long after they had left her classroom, the essays she read one more time because she knew a child could do better, the people she worried about, the friends she laughed with, and the ordinary days she somehow made important.

She had spent much of her life teaching people how to find the right words. How to explain. How to organise their thoughts. How to say what they really meant.

But perhaps the most important things about her needed no perfect sentence.

She cared deeply.

She tried.

She stayed when staying mattered.

She could be stubborn, particular, impatient and wonderfully difficult to convince once she had made up her mind. She questioned things. She changed things. She corrected them and sometimes asked for them to be redone all over again.

And underneath all of that was a woman who simply wanted things—and people—to become a little better than they had been before.

There were disappointments she carried quietly and people she wished she could have kept longer. There were chapters she would never have chosen for herself. Still, they became part of her story.

And when the classroom eventually grew quiet, when the papers had all been marked and there was finally nothing left that needed correcting, her story did not end there.

Because somewhere, someone would still write a sentence the way Miss Rozie taught them.

Someone would remember something she said.

Someone would be braver because she once believed they could be.

And perhaps that is one of the loveliest ways a person can remain in this world:

not by being remembered by everyone,

but by becoming a small, permanent part of the people they once cared for.

The End.

Although, knowing Rozie, she would probably circle “The End,” write “Too predictable” beside it, and ask for a better conclusion. 🩷
